Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and welcome to the latest episode of The Official Dom J Radio Show hosted by yours truly. I am having the lovely, lovely pleasure of introducing a special guest. Go ahead and introduce yourself now. Hello everyone, I'm Erica Jackson.
Thank you again, Hody J for having me today. Of course, of course. On this episode, we're going to be diving into the oddities, the randomness that is life with our special guest, as well as talking to little Netflix, the holiday season thus far and what's ahead on the horizon for 2019. All that and more after this brief commercial break.
And we're back with our special guest, Miss Erica Jackson. Esquire. Esquire. Esquire.
So I guess, you know, that kind of gives us some insight into your life. Obviously, you're a lawyer in the legal profession. Yeah, it still feels nice to say it though, guys. I'm a new lawyer, so it's exciting for me.
So I definitely find it a humbling thing. As you notice, I actually didn't say it. I often don't even know if I should say it sometimes. So yeah, humbling.
Definitely work hard to get there. So we've got to get props. People work hard for those titles. We're going to mention them around here.
So what would you say is something that you give advice wise for aspiring baby lawyers and those on the law school grind current. Oh, everyone asks that. And so the first thing I tell everybody considering going to law school is ask yourself, do you really want to go to law school? Does it sound nice?
Does your mom or dad suggest you go? Did you watch suits and it looked cool? Like those are not good reasons to go to law school. Like you have to go to law school because that's what you want to do.
To what I say, be prepared to be humbled. Everybody in law school, yeah. Everybody in law school gives like a reality check from your school or your college, your life, the smart one, the legal wiz, the political science, the writer, whatever. The law school, everybody's like that.
So it's super competitive. And three, I say be spiritual, whatever it is that you identify whether it's religion or religion, whatever it is that grounds you state truth and that. It gets to... Don't let a car wreck ruin your holiday.
Car Erica Jackson at the Singleton law firm. 318-631-5200. So it is the holiday season and between family, friends and travel, self-time, how do you find it best to really manage the holidays mentally? Mentally managing the holidays, I always have to take an Erica day.
I am a notorious napper. I will nap my life away. So for me, that's when I'm not on the phone, not talking to other people. I'm actually very social, so I get enough of that just in my daily life.
I can't go to the grocery store without making friends. I get that holiday time, that vacation time, and down time. I like to nap. I like to read.
And I like moving. What we do say about it? We see a lot of them. 2019 is like right around the corner.
We're post Christmas. Well, how was your Christmas? Well, I had a good Christmas. I think you know, so this is for y'all.
So we actually got to spend the holidays together. And we did something kind of unique this year. We went on a Christmas cruise. And that was...
Interesting to say the least to do your carnival cruise line research outside of just carnival cruise lines. You got, you know, a lot of other options to choose from. Make sure if you're going, you pick some excursions, check on making sure that they are excursions at that carnival or just general cruise line comes through with. Alas, you don't want to spend the majority of that time on the boat.
But, you know, just something different. I think that, you know, in and of itself is out of the normal paradigm of what people might be doing during this time of year. Yeah, it was very interesting. I think one good thing for us is it made me.
I am a shopper. Y'all. I love the holidays. I love buying all kinds of presents.
I love waking up on Christmas. And it's a hundred gifts under the tree. So that made me, like, really focused by things that I thought down what really like focused on what was important. And that was like spending time together.
So the cruise really did do that. Even in the things that we were disappointed that didn't hand out, we had a great time. We got to go to the Bahamas. We got to spend time together.
And for a long distance couple, that is like... Major key. Major key. So, we're at the tail end of 2018.
What year it's been on the global level, I'm sure it's been as equally as interesting on a personal level with 2019 right around the corner. Give the people a little bit of your vision. Some of the things you're going to be working on in the future. So, 2019, I am a very basic bitch this year.
My biggest goal is to be more organized. So, the one thing I'm looking forward to, I guess, my only resolution, because I really don't do those because I never speak to them. But I guess my one 2019 resolution is to get a nice planner and use it. My work life is very busy and I use a work computer calendar.
And that's like super organized. But my personal life calendar, I never scheduled these until I'll be scheduled to work when I'll be saying I'm going to be all three minutes like things. So, yeah. That work life balance is crucial.
So, that's my like thing. And then some fun things I'm looking forward to is traveling. I have a couple of really cool things planned for 2019. I do a lot of traveling just in general.
So, that's always fun for me. But I'm going to be doing some dope stuff. You know about some of those things and then I'm going on a girls trip to Mexico. Girls trip.
Girls trip. Girls trip. So, yeah. That's what's up.
So, go ahead and give the people your contacts that shameless plug. Shameless, not shameless plug. Y'all help me make some money. I really need the business.
So, my I work at the Singleton Law Farm and our phone number is 318-6-3-15-0-0-0. And what I do there is injury law. And so, the first thing people think of is Carvitz and I do those very, very well. So, if you're in Louisiana or Texas, please come on over.
We have lawyers that work in both states. I am very hands on. You'll get to talk to your lawyer. I'll call you.
I go the extra mile. So, that is just like my everyday. But I also do a lot of federal workers with people who don't know. So, we do those pharmaceutical companies, not just pharmaceutical companies, but actually like medical, malpractice, workers' comp.
If you got, say, a titanium ankle put in it and now functions, all of those things that usually happen on a federal spectrum. So, I do a lot of federal litigation. I am licensed federally as well. And one of my fun things that I do is I do some contamination work.
And so, one of the big things socially is like water contamination. People know about Flint, Michigan. But from my own personal perspective, I think Louisiana is in a real water crisis that stems from a lot of oil and drilling and all kinds of things that can mis-manage me in the infrastructure. All kinds of things could lead to that contamination, but it's really hurting the people.
So, I get a true joy out of the Windows cases as well. So, any of those things you guys give me a call? Again, my phone number is 31-86-315-00-A-R-K-J-X, and it's the same from my firm. So, in entertainment news, if you're watching this somewhere between Christmas and New Year's, you may or may not have heard of the movie Bird Box on Netflix.
Pretty crazy movie. I thought Netflix Original. I do prefer their original content. They usually have some VST, VST concepts.
I'd agree. We watch a lot of Netflix Original as well. LDR couples on this relationship. So, we like to spend time watching Netflix.
That's a take for us, like for real, for real. People be talking about Netflix and chilling. We got a whole PhD in that shit. So, we watch a lot of Netflix Original.
It's actually one of the first things we look for. It's like, what Netflix is dropping. And that was like a gem. I liked it.
Some people are giving it a bit of a harsh critique, but I like it a lot. I mean, given the circumstances that really surround the movie, the idea of survival, the whole post-apocalyptic feel and navigating that with children, I'm sure it just kind of magnifies. And not just with children, but with the child that is yours and a child that is not your own and like being placed in some difficult situations, because I mean, you have to make some real decisions there. And so, I really love what's- Yeah.
Which one do we a second place? And it's like- Among other things. Oh, love other things. Just all of it.
You know, the love that goes into it, the heartbreak, all of it. So, I thought my girl Sandra, I love her. I'm with it. So, shameless plug for Sandra Hund and Yago Watch Netflix, I really learned it.
And, and, I mean, I was in all my patio clicking rocks together. I'll just say that. So, I'm sound smart sounds. I get it, I get it.
And entertainment, Rihanna updates around here. Y'all know I was looking for her to drop an album late this year, but apparently we're not getting one until next year. She's got her hands full doing everything it seems like, fighting global agendas with a great cause, the good of man, the makeup line, the lingerie, and a parallel line that she just dropped with the savage fancy. So, y'all, she's busy.
I love Rie. I know a lot of people are part of the beehive, but honey put on my uniform and call me an avi gal. Because I just think this young woman is such a smart business woman. I love money.
And see Rihanna, she's making some vase moves. We all know about the makeup line and how she's not only making quality products, but making shades accessible for us beauties in brown and all shades. Love that Rie. But now she's on this lingerie thing.
And so, I personally have some things from her line. And my favorite thing is the robe. The robe is beautiful guys. And not only is it a nice, you know, robe, it was affordable, but the engineering, like I'm a quality kind of chick.
So, like the engineering of the robe is really nice as well. So, another shameless plug for somebody else's money. Y'all dropped Rihanna some coins. So that wraps up this episode of the official Don J Radio show.
Thank you to our special guest, Miss Erica Jackson, Esquire for stopping through the show and showing mad love to everybody. However, you may be listening, whether that be on Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you may be streaming podcasts. Thank you for listening. Definitely look forward to what 2019 has in store for not just myself but for those around me.
That's enough blessings for everybody to get one. So, you know, stay woke, drink plenty of water in mind your business. See y'all in the new year.
