He assumes them.The question he raises is not whether we do good—but why.When our actions are driven by the need for approval, recognition, or status, they may still help. But they rarely heal as deeply as they could. They tend to circle back toward us.Jesus invites us into something deeper—a way of life shaped by love.He calls us to let our lives be shaped by love—love of God, ourselves, and our neighbors as ourselves. When our good deeds grow out of that grounding, they carry a different weight. They create space for others to thrive. They restore dignity.
