Living Beyond Me - NL
from Pastor Jonathan’s Sermons Hosted by jonathan althoff
Connect with me here in text… tell me where you are listening. Exhausted doesn’t always mean sleepy. Sometimes it means you’re carrying fear, shame, anxiety, resentment, or the constant need to prove yourself and you’ve been hauling it so long it feels normal. We sit with Jesus’ words in Matthew 11:28–30 and ask one uncomfortable, freeing question: did Jesus actually ask me to carry this? When the answer is no, we talk about what it looks like to lay it down, pick it up again, and lay it down again until a new pattern forms. Then we go to the part we usually rush past: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” We explore why Jesus starts with relationship before responsibility, why rest comes before learning, and why he isn’t piling a fresh list of religious tasks onto your back. The conversation turns to the real “burden of Christ” and why it can be both a burden and light at the same time. The turning point is the heart of Jesus: compassion that moves outward, mercy that restores relationship, and love that gives faces to burdens we used to treat like abstract problems. When love becomes the motive, sacrifice doesn’t vanish but it changes shape, and joy starts showing up where obligation used to rule. If you’ve been longing for soul rest, this is a path you can actually practice this week. Subscribe, share this with a friend who feels worn out, and leave a review with the one burden you’re choosing to lay down today. Support the show www.Turning180.com
