Living in a Compromised Community

In 1 Kings 11-16, we see Israel become increasingly unsettled and eventually divided. We find many examples of failed kings and prophets as they abandon God (and some who don’t). We also discover that God is uncompromising both in his character and pursuit of his people. This section starts a trajectory of generations who mostly live in a “compromised community.” The core issue isn’t necessarily the leader, but rather the idols that are promoted or ignored within that community.
