Living in the Dark

In this episode of "Emily's Stories of Living In The Dark", Emily will take you on the journey of her life growing up as a blind person. A traumatic birth led to an eye condition called cortical visual impairment that took place at birth causing Emily to go blind. The optic nerve was severed during birth leading to this eye condition. Emily faced many challenges growing up as a blind individual. This episode will discuss and go more in-depth into some of these struggles. Her experiences with show choir, running track in high school, and struggles at Iowa Western will all be discussed. She will highlight some of the successes and challenges that she faced throughout her childhood into her adult life and college.
