Living Life Well — Week 3

This message opens a window into the rabbinical schooling of Jesus' world, from Bet Sefer to the prized invitation lech acharai , come follow me, extended only to the best of the best. Against that backdrop, Mark 1:16-20 takes on new weight: the fishermen Jesus called had been passed over, and his invitation declared he believed they could do what he did. The process of following, hearing, believing, repenting, confessing, and being baptized, is just the beginning, not the end. The prayer to be covered in the dust of the rabbi frames a call to follow Jesus so closely that his life marks ours.
