Send a Text Message to The Kosher TerroirThe following is a conversation with Sam Baum. The new young winemaker and co-owner of Family Baum Winery. Where many of us only dream of owning our own winery, Sam a London-born young man, made Aliyah, Served in the IDF, fell in love with the land of Israel, and married his wife and winery partner Rifka. He searched out and found work in a renowned Judean Hills winery learning from the bottom up the skills he would need to realize his dream. For the last few years, he has planted and maintained a new vineyard for his employer, but continued to dream of creating his own personal brand, planting his own vineyard to source grapes for his and Rifka’s own family winery. He just completed production of Family Baum’s second vintage, from grapes they purchased until their vineyard is built. He continues working hard towards that goal and is close to acquiring land for the development of the vineyard up north in the Golan. Sam is incredibly passionate about Israel, the vines, and creating Kosher wine.
