Living With Autism | Zaine Schmidt

from Young Blood - Men’s Mental Health · host Cal MacPherson

Zaine Schmidt is one of the hundreds of thousands of Australians living life on the autism spectrum. As a child, he was diagnosed with a high functioning form of the disorder known as Asperger's syndrome. The developmental disability has had a profound impact on Zaine's daily life, making him a target for bullies through his schooling days and leaving him feeling like he's never going to fit in. He's been down many times, but not out. Rather than let all the voices keep him down, Zaine is following his passion of running a business while working on becoming the best version of himself - a man who aims to be an inspiration to others who share his condition. Zaine's outspoken about mental health and his own battles and it was brave of him to come on the podcast with a stranger and lay it all out there. He's made mistakes in the past and acknowledges he's far from perfect but he's doing everything he can to be better and not let his setbacks define his life.
