from The Coeliac Shack

A special episode of The Coeliac Shack – the podcast about our Coeliac Disease journey! 🧡 This episode is a little different from usual. We’re sharing an almost-complete recording of a panel discussion led by Primrose and Terry, on Saturday 13th June 2026, at the Northamptonshire Gluten-Free Food Festival 2026, held at the beautiful Chester House Estate. The discussion was titled: 🎤 Living with Coeliac Disease During Childhood and the Teenage Years Primrose and Terry were joined by an excellent panel representing a wide range of experiences from across the coeliac community: 🧡 Cate the Coeliac – a gluten-free content creator who also leads gluten-free tours of London 🍳 Nicky Chilvers from Gluten Free Little Cook 🤝 Gaynor, who runs the Nottingham Young Coeliacs group 🎓 Kate Pollard, a student who has carried out research into the psychological experiences of people living with Coeliac Disease 🎤 Young coeliacs Isla and Rebecca, who brought their own valuable perspectives and experiences to the conversation Recorded in front of a live audience, the panel explores some of the realities of growing up with Coeliac Disease. The discussion covers experiences at school, the importance of finding a supportive community, exciting new gluten-free products, eating out, navigating teenage life and even the question of kissing someone who isn’t coeliac! There are honest stories, practical suggestions, plenty of humour and some fascinating perspectives from both young people and adults who understand the challenges of living gluten free. The recording has only been lightly edited, allowing you to hear the discussion and audience atmosphere much as it happened on the day.
