Here Are The Lyrics: Lizzie Meyer Words and music by John Keaton In the corner of a dark Dark, damp hallway A woman of age creeps up the stairway Her children have all but gone and left her What can she do? Lizzie Meyer Chorus She was once so young Bright and so much fun But those days are done Life has had it’s run for Lizzie Meyer You know her husband He died in ‘49 One son of hers, he turned to crime The other two are just like you Respectable, or maybe even worse Repeat Chorus Silently she reads the obituaries To see what friends of hers Have to face destiny For soon she knows She will be joining them Who will care, then ? Lizzie Meyer Repeat Chorus Lizzie Meyer
