Lloyd Neurauter: The Father Who Recruited His Daughter to Kill

On August 28, 2017, police in Corning, New York, found 46-year-old Michele Neurauter hanging inside her home. At first glance, it looked like suicide. But investigators quickly became suspicious. Michele was in the middle of a bitter custody and financial battle with her ex-husband, Lloyd Neurauter, and the evidence began pointing toward something far more calculated. Prosecutors said Lloyd had planned Michele’s murder, strangled her, and staged the scene to make it appear she had taken her own life. Then came the most disturbing revelation of all: Lloyd had involved their own daughter, Karrie Neurauter, in the plot. Karrie later admitted that she helped her father plan the murder, drove him to and from Michele’s home, distracted her younger sister while the killing took place, and helped cover their tracks. She said Lloyd had given her a horrifying ultimatum: help him kill her mother or he would kill himself. In 2018, Lloyd pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and admitted he had manipulated and coerced Karrie into helping him. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
