Lobbying to suport active travel to school

Val and Faith are joined in the studio on this gorgeous autumn morning by Cate Hall of Our Children Our Schools. We kick off the show sharing our bike moments which, this week, feature kangaroos, the You Yangs and Portarlington mussels. We take a look at some news including the upcoming Giro d'Italia, the recent Handmade Bicycle Show, an increase in cyclist deaths in the Netherlands and the commitment of Yarra City Council to the Rushall Reserve Path.Discussion turns to the work of Our Children Our Schools lobbying the state governement for commitments and funding to support active travel to public schools across Victoria. Cate explains the myriad government departments and bodies involved in getting a mechanism and budget in place for this. Cate's recent experience at Coburg High School illustrates how much a committed school and local council's can achieve, but also the neccesity for State Government commitments and funding.
