Local Labour Party members claim Catherine Connolly will have their backing in the upcoming Presidential Election

 Member of the Sligo-Leitrim-South Donegal Labour Party have rowed in behind the party decision to support Independent Socialist, candidate, Catherine Connolly in the upcoming Presidential Election. Senator Nessa Cosgrove says it’s imperative that a suitable successor for Michael D Higgins.  The Sligo Senator claims that Catherine Connolly is the person for the job, adding that the former Labour party member shows a deep compassion and commitment to Social Democratic principles which are largely in line with Labour Party values. Senator Cosgrove says the vast majority of the local Party agrees Catherine Connolly will have no problem in supporting the Galway West TD in the upcoming Presidential Election campaign.
