Playing a high-roller $25 poker machine at The Orleans, a local Las Vegas player walked away $100,000 richer. He hit the elusive Royal Flush. He bet the $125 max on the five-coin poker machine and received the King, Jack and 10 of hearts. He went on to draw the Ace and Queen of hearts to secure the big win. He has recently asked a federal court to shutdown the state’s Tribal casinos. The dispute stems from the expiration of Oklahoma’s Gaming Compacts with four separate tribes on Jan. 1 of this year. He is looking to renegotiate the terms. Three of those Tribes (Chickasaw, Choctaw and Cherokee) petitioned the court in December to automatically renew the existing compacts. The governor recently submitted his official response to the tribal lawsuit defending their position. Part of that response calls for closing down the casinos through a federal injunction. He contends the compacts did not automatically renew. Lastly, New Jersey Casino Expansion Draws Stiff OppositionLegal casino gambling in Atlantic City goes all the way back to the late 1970’s. This is the only area in the Garden State that operates casino properties. Back in 2016, a state referendum to expand casinos to other parts of the state was soundly defeated. The actual vote against expansion was 3-to-1. Resolutions for further expansion are currently in both the Assembly and Senate for the new legislative session. However, most local politicians in South Jersey remain strictly opposed to any future expansion. Targeted areas mentioned are just outside Atlantic City and North Jersey.
