The first Local Selection of 2024 and the 228th edition of the series comes from Dublin-based DJ and promoter Sean Ruane. The Cynical head honcho manoeuvres through an array of groovy and hypnotic techno over the 65 minutes of his set, primarily paying homage to the genre’s golden era. This week’s entry to the Four Four Local Selection Mix Series welcomes Dublin native Sean Ruane. Having played an array of shows for parties such as Lost, Oblivion, Loose Tooth Dental Club, Somewhere Else and more in venues like Bow Lane, Fibbers, Cellar and The Soundhouse highlights this young DJ’s passion and appreciation for all things dance music. This has lead him to start his own night and mix series titled ‘Cynical’ where the Dublin-based collective aims to showcase a broad range of local and international talent through events and their Cynical Mix Series. Recognising that Sean’s musical preference is predominantly techno-driven it is apparent that his selections aid him in standing out during this recording, as he spins through a string of hypnotic and funky techno cuts which places a high degree of admiration toward the golden era of techno.
