Though she may have only come onto wider radars in recent years, Mav has been a committed participant in dance music culture for far longer. She began DJing in the early 2000s, eventually finding her home in the alternative club scene, a space where she could explore her gender identity while refining her artistic voice. Her sound sits firmly on the dark and industrial end of the techno spectrum. With roots in rock and metal, Mav approached electronic music from an outsider’s angle. Deep dives into industrial, darkwave, goth, EBM and aggrotech expanded her sonic vocabulary and continue to shape her creativity. She gravitates toward pounding four-on-the-floor rhythms, aggressive and hypnotic grooves, minimal melodies and deadpan vocals, elements that combine to set the stage for intense dance-floor journeys.
