Locksley's UConn Mix-Up and Home Crowd Power | Maryland Terrapins Football News

Mike Locksley’s pre-game blunder—calling UConn coach Jason Candle “Toledo’s coach”—might become Saturday’s biggest talking point, but it won’t overshadow the real story: a raucous UConn home crowd set to roar in Pratt & Whitney Stadium. With over 31K fans last time out and expectations high for Maryland’s Power Four showdown, Locksley knows student energy can be game-changing—especially after his team’s opener drew 10K students who lit up the field. Despite the gaffe, Locksley heaps praise on Candle’s turnaround at UConn, crediting his Toledo pedigree and strong staff. For Maryland, in its ninth season under Locksley (38-49 record), this is a chance to bounce back from recent struggles—and maybe even steal a win against a hungry Huskies squad.
