Bitcoin’s increasing popularity is invoking calls for its suppression, with some calling it a threat to US national security that undermines the dollar.  Yet, what are the characteristics and uses of sound money in the first place?  What is a government’s role in regulating money when that government is designed to secure liberty in the present and for posterity? We illustrate the issue using political conditions during Tokugawa Japan and the iconic samurai cinema and manga story, Lone Wolf and Cub, the baby cart assassin.
