Loneliness is real. It is 'realer' in children. Children go through loneliness. I have had several students reach out to me in their loneliness. The good thing was that I was available to engage them. But there are many others out there who would not be able to reach out to someone who would cheer them up. And they end up depressed and it affects several things about them... Their personality, their emotional strength, etc.
