Long Live the Techno King - Luis (Ion) Memorial Set - Live @ TechnoFam, June 30 2024

On June 16, 2024, a true rave angel was called back to heaven. The loss of Luis (Ion) still reverberates within our community, which is a testament to the impact he had on everyone he met. In gratitude for our time with him and to honor his positive energy that touched so many, TechnoFam hosted a gathering of his friends and loved ones a few weeks afterward. I am grateful to have been invited to play. Here is the live recording of that set. At first, I was upset when I realized I recorded the room audio (instead of straight from the mixer) by mistake, but listening back, I know it wasn't an accident. It's because Luis wanted everyone at the party to be included, just like he did in life. I love how you can hear his friends chanting his name and things he'd yell out at raves. As a DJ, there is really no way to describe the connection you feel with someone who can lose themselves in your set, be completely free, encourage others around them to do the same, and cheer you on. He is unforgettable. Rest in peace, Luis. You impacted so many people, and you are deeply missed.
