A small, underfunded, secret federal program crosses into other universes, mostly blind, to bring home anything that helps. Going back to a world they have already visited works about one time in ten. In the first episode, cover specialist Hana Whitlock volunteers for a return test to a gentle world where, last April, a widow who runs a boarding house in Hancock, Maryland took in three soaked strangers and left the porch light on. The team lands in a sibling world instead, where nobody remembers them, and where the widow's husband never died. Long Odds is an anthology about crossing blind. Not every crossing goes well.
