Look for Jesus - Andy Gamble

from The Hills Church Hosted by The Hills Church

What if following Jesus is far simpler than we have made it out to be? This message strips away the complexity we often layer onto our faith and brings us back to a single, profound invitation: look for Jesus. Drawing from the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, we are confronted with a striking reality -- two disciples walking, talking, and even grieving over Jesus, all while Jesus himself walks right beside them unrecognized. It is a picture that holds up a mirror to so many of us. We can fill our lives with church attendance, Bible reading plans, underlined verses, and spiritual routines, and still somehow keep Jesus at a distance. The central lesson here is both humbling and liberating: the goal of scripture was never merely to inform us about Jesus. It was always to bring us into a living, breathing relationship with him. When their eyes were finally opened at the table, the disciples asked each other whether their hearts had not been burning all along. That burning is available to us too, not through striving harder or knowing more, but through simply opening our eyes to the one who is already walking beside us.
