Lord of The Stone (Easter) - Matthew 26:30-56

Stones.Have you ever picked up a smooth stone and skipped it across the water?  Have you struggled to roll a heavy stone out of the way?When the people of Israel crossed the Jordan River (Joshua 4:1-7), they took twelve stones from the riverbed and placed them in the Promised Land as a memorial.  They placed them there to remind future generations of God’s miraculous power and faithfulness to His word.When the young shepherd boy, David, faced the Philistine giant, Goliath, he took his sling and five smooth stones from the riverbed (1 Samuel 17:40).  Those stones symbolized David’s faith in God’s powerful intervention and victory, in the face of overwhelming odds.Our present joy and eternal destiny rest on who had power over one stone, outside the gates of Jerusalem, 2000 years ago.Stone SurrenderedStone SealedStone Seat!Stone Silent? We choose which stone story we will believe.We choose which miracle we will believe: the resurrection of Jesus from the dead or a silent stone, rolled by conspiring disciples.We choose.
