Three year old Lori Poland vanished from her Colorado neighbourhood in August 1983, leaving behind only a pair of pants, terrified witnesses, and the description of an orange car disappearing down the street. For three agonizing days, police hunted for the man who had taken her while Lori remained trapped miles away at the bottom of a remote outhouse pit, injured, hungry, and completely unable to escape. Her being found alive came only by chance and it would lead investigators toward the man responsible, but identifying Lori's abductor was only the beginning of a case filled with disputed evidence, a controversial plea deal, and a sentence that would ignite public outrage.
