from Fred LeFebvre and the Morning News

Lori with Don’t Skirt the Issue event to benefit the Zepf CenterBenefitting Zepf Center' Safety NetOn a given night, nearly 41,000 unaccompanied youth were identified as experiencing unsheltered or sheltered homelessness in America. On the street, youth can become victims of violence, develop serious mental health and addiction problems, and be forced to trade sex for basic needs. In 2016, Zepf Center opened Safety Net, which is the only emergency shelter for homeless runaway youth in the Northwest Ohio area. Safety Net provides outreach, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling, family reunification and aftercare services to runaway and homeless youth and their families. For the last three years a coalition of local businesses, media and government agencies have held an event, Don’t Skirt the Issue – Help, raising almost $80,000 towards developing housing specifically for women impacted by the opiate crisis. While there is still much work to be done related to the opiate epidemic, our committee has reached its goal of opening a home for women in recovery. The goal for this year’s event is to raise funds for Zepf Center’s runaway shelter, Safety Net.We are pleased to announce this year’s event will be held on Friday, October 18th, from 6-11 PM at The Pinnacle, 1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee, OH. “Don’t Skirt the Issue – Help” will be an evening of music, friends and fun! The event will feature fabulous dining from NW Ohio restaurants, a live auction, raffles and loads of entertainment.www.zepfcenter.org for more info and tickets!
