Los Fidel's Plans to Enact Mimi's Law & Help CT Youth through his Making Innocence Matter Initiative

On Season 2, Episode 24 of The Life and Law Podcast by Pro Legal Solutions, we welcome special guest Los Fidel from New Haven, Connecticut. Los comes on to share his story about his upbringing growing up in CT, and why he decided to get involved in sharing updates about the case involving Jacqueline "Mimi" Torres-Garcia, also known as "Mimi", who was tragically found deceased in New Britain, CT, in October of 2025. The biological mother, aunt, and mother's boyfriend currently face several charges, including murder. Los discusses how he was inspired to start a petition to pass "Mimi's Law", in honor of Mimi, in which he has over 25,000 signatures so far. He talks about the discourse from the homeschool community, challenges with getting legislators to sign onto his proposed bill, and how he started his non-profit the "Making Innocence Matter Initiative" also named after Mimi in her memory. Los talks about many of the recent events he has sponsored in the community with the help of other volunteers, and talks about how he hopes to bring positive and healthy community-based outlets for the inner-city youth in CT.
