Losing Family to Suicide | Jack Brown

Jack Brown is one of the guys running the trailblazing nationwide men's mental health charity #talk2mebro. It's an early intervention program underpinned by the ultimate aim of reducing suicide through informing and empowering men. The organisation was launched by Jack's friend, Kristy Hajjar, following the loss of her husband and Jack's cousin, Matt, to suicide. Jack's world was flipped upside down when Matty died. The tragedy leaving him devastated, confused and desperate for a way to numb the pain.  Relying on self-destructive coping mechanisms to distract himself, Jack developed a gambling addiction and descended to the point he was suicidal himself.  Fortunately, with the love of his friends and family and a drastic change in life direction, he was able to turn it all around.  Not wanting anyone to ever feel like he felt, Jack has gone on to find profound meaning in the service of presenting and facilitating workshops on mental health to schools and groups around Australia, with the other members of the #talk2mebro team.
