Lost In "Egypt"

When Your Heart Is Lost In “Egypt” . . .   The direction in which I go reveals the condition of my heart and determines the destination of my life.   ·         A rebellious heart will always go in a direction opposite of God. (v.1, 2)   ·         An impatient heart devises a plan that is often convenient and impulsive. (v.1)  o   Quick to listen to my logic rather than wait to hear God’s voice. o   Difficult circumstances will often press me into trusting God more, or planning my own way of escape or provision. §  “To take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh . . .” §  “To seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!”   ·         A selfish heart often seeks to justify and disguise a selfish decision as spirit-led direction.  (Isaiah 30:1; Proverbs 16:2)   What I Find In “Egypt” . . .   All that I believe will provide comfort and satisfaction will only produce restlessness and misery.  (v.3-7)   A Life Surrendered to God . . .   A surrendered heart always trusts the sovereignty and character of God. o   I trust your word/voice. (Psalm 119:160) o   I trust your direction. (Psalm 119:105) o   I trust your timing. (Psalm 130:5) o   I trust your plan. (Jeremiah 29:11) o   I trust you completely. (Proverbs 3:5-6)   Questions to Think On . . .   1.      What is the condition of my heart? 2.      Am I going down to “Egypt” rather than trusting God?
