LOST IN THE DARK - HOSTED BY CRAIG SICILIA

After spending several years after my injury, ashamed of my injury, hiding from those I thought loved me.  Being a punching bag because people did not understand and I could not explain it though I tried.  Hiding in the shadows of my own life, trapped with no where to run.  Only questioning why I am alive, praying that the pain will stop.  No one knows how it destroys ones soul as people look at you seeing nothing wrong but yet cannot accept you.  So after a couple of years I found a purpose again one that makes a difference and so many others are out there as well.  I am just over 5 years into my new me and I have to tell you the pain is still there, I question life, I wonder why, I beg God to stop the pain.  But through all of this I find strength in others, knowing that I am not alone.  Then I become angry because brain injury is the number one cause and death and disability among children and Adults under 40.  I ask myself why then just 5 years ago it was such a mystery, why no one told me, told my family, helped me understand..  So my purpose is to change this, to help survivors and their families take control of a system that has failed us for decades.  Our time is now fellow survivors let us change this, let our voices be heard.  Let us walk in the light with dignity and understanding.
