Louisiana Workforce Reforms Aim to Fill Jobs and Support Economic Growth

Louisiana Works Secretary Susie Schowen discussed several workforce bills passed during the 2026 legislative session. She said Louisiana has reached a record high for employment but still needs to improve workforce participation by addressing barriers like childcare, transportation, and skills gaps. Schowen highlighted the new Louisiana Talent Works initiative, which will connect employers with workforce training and support while providing roughly $35 million in funding without using state general fund dollars. She also discussed continued expansion of the One Door model, designed to make workforce services easier to access. The reforms aim to streamline Louisiana's workforce system, create more consistency across the state's 15 workforce regions, and help meet labor demands as major economic development projects continue to grow.
