Louisville Shifts 2027 Season Opener | Louisville Football News

Louisville’s 2027 season opener just got a major twist — they’re ditching the flashy road debut against South Florida and instead kicking things off at home against Richmond on August 28. This move, triggered by the NCAA’s new 14-week regular season rule, lets them ease into the year with a less daunting opponent before heading to Tampa. Playing Richmond first gives them valuable early-season experience while letting the buzz of their brand-new stadium build naturally — no pressure, no distractions, just football.
