Louisville vs SMU: ACC Title Race | Louisville Football News

Louisville football is primed for a huge showdown against top-ranked SMU this Saturday, with the winner potentially vaulting into the College Football Playoff picture. After a brutal 38-6 loss to SMU last year — and missing key players — the Cardinals are now ranked No. 23 following a tough loss to No. 8 Ole Miss. SMU, undefeated at 2-0 and ranked No. 16, comes in hungry after dominating Louisville twice in the past two seasons. This game is one of three ranked-vs-ranked matchups this weekend and could set the tone for the ACC title race. A win gives Louisville momentum, a shot at the top 20, and a real playoff path — while a loss drops them to 1-2 and makes a playoff bid nearly impossible without winning the entire conference. The underdogs are favored by just 1.5 points — but this could be their moment to prove they’re more than just a flash in the pan.
