Louth Councillor Calls for New Road Signs to Divert Traffic Away from Ardee - 17/12/2025

Sinn Féin Councillor for Ardee, Pearse McGeough has called for new digital signage on the N2 in an effort to divert traffic away from Ardee and ease congestion. Cllr McGeough has urged the council to install new signage on the N2, just north of Collon, to redirect traffic via the R169 Dunleer/Collon Road. Motorists would enter the northbound motorway before rejoining the N33 at junction 14. In a statement, Cllr McGeough said the detour will benefit vehicles simply passing through Ardee, and although it will add 9km to the journey he added it would "save a lot of time that would be sat in gridlock."Councillor McGeough joined us on The Agenda this morning to talk to us some more about this.
