Love & Affection (a Joan Armatrading/Sheena Easton cover)
from Kenny Peters SoundCloud Feed · host Kenny Peters
Probably one of the most unique love songs I've ever heard, it was written by and originally performed by Joan Armatrading in 1976, and then covered by Sheena Easton in 1984 on her amazingly successful "A Private Heaven" album. It was not a single release, but an album cut with a unique vocal pattern and rhythm all together. The very beginning here I decided to have a little bit of fun with but It's not too far from either previous version. What sounds like is going to be a small ballad turns into a really great slow laid-back rocking' jazz-infused pop song that you just can't help but tap your foot or move to, even if you're sitting down. The vocal arrangement here is completely my own. Neither of the previous versions presented multiharmony vocals and it has been fun and quite challenging to fit this together. I've worked on it for about a week and finally hit the sweet spot tonight. I do hope you enjoy it!
