In this powerful teaching, Tina Fraizer takes us deep into one of the clearest themes running throughout Scripture: love is not optional for the follower of Jesus—it is evidence of a life that has truly been changed by Him. Beginning in Matthew 22:33–40, we are reminded that Jesus identified the greatest commandments as loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and loving our neighbor as ourselves. From there, the message moves through 1 John 4:7–20, where we see that love originates with God: “God is love.” If we claim to love God while refusing to love others, Scripture challenges us to examine whether our words and our lives agree. First John as a whole reinforces this truth again and again. Genuine faith is demonstrated not merely by what we say we believe, but by how we live, how we treat others, and how we love. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul shows us what biblical love actually looks like. Love is patient and kind. It is not proud, self-seeking, easily angered, or consumed with keeping a record of wrongs. Spiritual gifts, knowledge, words, and accomplishments mean very little when love is missing. Galatians 5 reminds us that love is the first fruit produced by the Spirit of God in our lives. James 3:16 warns us about the destructive results of envy and selfish ambition. John 13:35 gives one of the clearest marks of Christian discipleship: the world should be able to recognize that we belong to Jesus by the way we love one another. Paul summarizes it beautifully in 1 Corinthians 16:14: “Let all that you do be done in love.” The teaching also brings us to the sobering words of Revelation 21:7–8, reminding us that following Christ is not merely about outward profession. God calls His people to overcome, remain faithful.
