God is not distant, since the garden He has been moving toward us, crossing every barrier our sin built, until Jesus became Emmanuel, “God with us”. From tent, to temple, to the Spirit dwelling in us, the story of Scripture is the God of love drawing near, not out of obligation, but delight. This Christmas, we remember that love is not an abstract idea, but a Father giving His beloved Son so that we might fully live in Him and live that love toward others.
