In this episode Matt and Jenn speak with Sister Miriam Heidland, former Division One college athlete whose life was revolutionized by encountering the love of Christ, resulting in her entering the Society of the Most Holy Trinity in 1998.Sister Miriam shares her story of growing up Catholic, falling away in college, her history of trauma, brokenness, addiction and how God sent a Catholic priest who loved Jesus into her life. Matt, Jenn and Sister Miriam reveal individual moments where they saw the Gospel lived in everyday life by those around them. Sister Miriam saw it in the priest who mentored her, Matt saw it in his friends at school, and Jenn sees it in the Unbound “family” around the world.The trio then discuss how Satan targets our deepest areas of shame and ruptured love. Sister Miriam heralds the healing power of love, the mystery of why God allows some things to happen, and how Christ can make beauty from ashes.Sister Miriam voices God’s kindness in the areas from which she’s been healed: addiction, depression, and an auto-immune disease that is in remission.
