Loving The Church That Jesus Loves
from Eastmont Church Weekly Teachings
In the Bible, those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus as their God and Savior are individually called “Christians” and collectively referred to as “the Church.” Now the truth is, make no mistake about it . . . Jesus is “head over heels” in love with the Church. So much so, that to illustrate the emotion and intensity of His love for us, the New Testament calls the Church the “bride” of Christ. This great word picture helps us see Jesus gazing lovingly upon the Church like a bridegroom who can’t take his eyes off of his bride. It helps us realize that His heart beats for His people like that of a man full of passion for his new wife on their wedding day! Quite truthfully, Jesus would do anything for His bride because He loves her so much. And here’s the deal, if our Savior has this kind of love for the people of His Church, then those of us who comprise the Church need to have this same level of love for one another. Today, Pastors Blaine, Chris & John work together to help us discover and renew our vision for loving the Church that Jesus loves.
