Fairfax's John Garnaut has won the inaugural Lowy Institute Media Award. John was nominated for his in-depth work on the leadership transition in China, his reporting on the Bo Xilai case, and coverage of tensions in the South China Sea. The keynote address at the award ceremony was given by ASIS Director-General Nick Warner, who spoke about his late father, war correspondent Denis Warner.
