LSU vs. Houston Prediction: 2025 Kinder's Texas Bowl

Jay Greeson and Chris Lee preview the Kinder’s Texas Bowl between LSU and Houston and offer predictions. Topics include: Houston looks to have a huge motivational edge. It’s 9-3 season under first-year-in-Houston coach Willie Fritz surpassed expectations. LSU, meanwhile, had national title expectations. Once it became obvious that the Tigers weren’t making the College Football Playoff, LSU coach Brian Kelly was fired and that’s put the coaching staff and roster into uncertainty (which didn’t always result in the Tigers playing well). LSU will be without (at a minimum) starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, star linebacker Whit Weeks and potential first-round corner Mansoor Delane, defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux and possibly, receivers Aaron Anderson and Nick Anderson. Houston’s starting center, Demetrius Hunter, will not play. Houston is led by quarterback Connor Weigman (formerly of Texas A&M), who led an offense that averaged 28 points per game. The Cougars have a potent receiving punch in Amare Thomas and Ball State transfer tight end Tanner Koziel, who’s one of the country’s best at his position.
