Lucas Fire Rages Through Northern California | Spokane News

A wildfire named the Lucas Fire is tearing through Northern California’s Lake and Mendocino counties, having already scorched over 4,000 acres and only 20% contained. Evacuation orders are in effect, with centers set up at the Lake County Fairgrounds — including one for pets. Key roads like Highway 20 are closed, and parts of the Mendocino National Forest are off-limits. Over 1,300 firefighters, 60+ engines, 35 water tenders, 50 hand crews, and 17 helicopters are battling the blaze. A red flag warning through Monday means hotter temps, dry air, and strong winds could fuel more fires — making containment a race against time.
