Summary
Lucrezia Borgia has been given a really unfair reputation in history. Poisoner, brother "lover", and all around scandalous. Sorry to tell you, most of these are likely very untrue. Born to an Italian cardinal, Rodrigo Borgia, her life began as a scandal. Famously, cardinals aren't supposed to have families. But this one sure did. Lucrezia was very much loved by her father who eventually went on to become Pope Alexander VI aka Pope Daddy. Her family was a scandal at every turn, but was Lucrezia an active participant in these scandals, an innocent bystander or a pawn in the games of the powerful men in her family? Due to the (most certainly false) story of Lucrezia being an infamous poisoner, we're pairing this episode with a cocktail simply called Poison, which is made with vodka, orange liqueur, lemon, and soda water.
