30 kwietnia 1939 roku, prezydent USA Franklin Delano Roosevelt otworzył Nowojorską Wystawę Światową, która pod hasłem „Świat Jutra” miała zaprezentować wizję postępu społecznego i rozwoju techniki. Wśród eksponatów na polskim pawilonie znalazł się cykl obrazów Bractwa św. Łukasza, który po 83 latach wraca do Polski, gdzie znajdzie się jako element wystawy stałej Muzeum Historii Polski. Obrazy Łukaszowców, bo tak nazywano tą grupę artystyczną przedstawiają najważniejsze wydarzenia z historii Polski, jej wkład w rozwój cywilizacji zachodniej, relacje z sąsiadami, tradycje tolerancji i konstytucjonalizmu. Kim byli Łukaszowcy? Co czyni ich sztukę wyjątkową? Wreszcie, czemu na temat ich twórczości praktycznie milczano w latach 1945-1989?
