Voss begins the great reversal of kingdoms the kingdom of this world and it’s rulers will be cost down and lonely ones. Poor ones. Like Mary. The teenager Marie. The young version. Mother of Jesus is lifted up. This may not appear to happen as we look around and see King still on their throne and young widows, young women still hungry, and still hurt, and yet in the realm of gods kingdom, if you have eyes to see it The great flipping has been done in the unseen realm. Those who are high will be brought low, and those who are low will be brought high. This is a great theme, not only of the book of Luke, but also of the book of acts.
