Jesus gets invited to eat with a lot of people. It seems though that they’re trying to trap him by eating them. It kind of sounds like a bad movie. Everybody’s always trying to trick him. Then Jesus tells this parable about a guy who is inviting people to a dinner and it seems like Jesus is telling this parable not about the future but about what’s happening right now about Jesus is inviting people and people are giving excuses on why they’re not comingand he’s saying the dinner is not ready. Come come and nobody’s coming. That’s what’s happening right there and then. Jesus is inviting them to the kingdom, and at the end, even the disciples can’t see how a Roman Cross has anything to do with the kingdom of God.
