Luke 6 1-11
from Cyril Guerette — Sermons & Teaching
FreeChurch Toronto, Do the Kingdom · Luke 6 “Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. Jesus is the Lord of every single day. … God wants to change your heart. He wants to change you from the inside. He wants you to begin to live a life that is powered by nothing else but the Spirit of God himself with the wisdom of the Word of God helping guide you in that direction. The more you learn about his nature, the more you learn about his principles, the more full of life, the more full of goodness that you become. It's a different form of religion, this Christianity thing. It's not a list. It's an actual relationship, a power. You are battery powered by the Spirit of God. That's how we do the Jesus thing. You learn that freedom of Christ is a freedom to do the good. Sometimes we realize that we want to do this good, but we can't. God gives you the freedom to do whatever good you set your mind to. So when the opportunity comes to be strengthened spiritually or mentally or physically, I just want you to remember that God is with you there in that moment. He is blessing you. It is lawful to do good at any time. Jesus Christ has changed the way that we work with God.” Passage: Luke 6:5 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2009-07-05-luke-6-1-11 To Do the Kingdom is not to try and storm the gates of heaven and take salvation by force or create the apocalypse on our planet. It is not a case of justification by works or an infatuation with final fireworks. Doing the Kingdom of God is about Announcing the Kingdom, Being the Kingdom, Becoming the Kingdom, Feeling the Kingdom, and Seeing the Kingdom Come in our life and times, even as we are Waiting for the Kingdom to Consummate in the endtimes. It is about Jesus working in and through his Body. These meditations are the result of over a year of drafting and delivering sermons to the FreeChurch Toronto community. It was a unique year in our lives, beginning at the Weekly which was my first as Senior Pastor, and ended with our local church having a new name, a new morning service, and a new location in the downtown core of Canada’s largest urban city.
