FOR REAL is a podcast on human dignity, made by Resonate Productions. In this episode: being talked down - not being taken seriously - being ‘too much’ - sexism in old Greek texts. Recorded on 5 May 2024 at Lunalia in Nona, Festival van Vlaanderen, Mechelen. (01:50) Eva [°1974 - Oudenaarde, BE] on being in a panel about female hormones, and being talked down to by an older male professor. “You did that really well.” (06:17) Rebecca [°1984 - Zottegem, BE] on being small, looking young, and (not) being taken seriously. With remarks on hair, clothes and figure coming from people who care about you. (10:41) Marjolijn [°1981 - Jette, BE] on the impossible assignment we get as humans, in allegory of the fairytale of Rumpelstilskin. (18:50) Annemarie [°1980 - Leuven, BE] on taking up too much space and being ‘too much’ as a girl and woman, and how that message gets passed on by mothers and daughters. (20:48) Anouk [°1984 - Belgium] on young teenagers against the old Greek in highschool, because “these texts are so sexist!” (24:20) “What do you deserve?” Marie [°1987 - Utrecht, NL] “I am constantly wondering, am I on the right side?” (27:02) Andrea [°1989 - Brugge, BE] a lot of dignity for the Flemish people. For each episode of FOR REAL, we get together with a group of people in a theater, to look into what it means to matter as a person.
