Lying in bed

Lying in bed I sit outside this morning of our soon to be happy place You’re on the way, coming home there’s a smile on my face The birds are harmonizing, together we are singing a happy tune Our dogs smiling too, laying by the gate hoping to see you soon It’s late July, it’s starting to get hot as hell When we get together we will melt and jell One voice and one love that we share in our song About how happy we are since the other came along I have dreamt a lifetime about a world filled with magical powers Where every day began happy and hopeful now baby that’s ours And both the struggles and good times that we know lie ahead We will tackle together and ruminate as we kiss goodnight lying in bed And when it’s getting to be the cold of winter and we feel chilled We will snuggle up and get warm and relish the things we fulfilled Devise a plan for the new year and a slate of goals for us to reach And every day we discover more of each other, we learn and we teach We take what we have and use it to build ourselves a castle made of love Knowing full well that’s it’s not always easy and sometimes you need a shove Still even more important is knowing when it’s time to reach out and pull As long as we’re together the glass is never half empty babe it’s always half full I have dreamt a lifetime about a world filled with magical powers Where every day began happy and hopeful, now baby that’s ours And both the struggles and the good times we both know lie ahead We will tackle together and ruminate as we kiss goodnight lying in bed Lord don’t we look forward to and love Lying in bed Tim Windisch 07/22/2022
