Lyric Activist—Papo Colo in New York and El Yunque

from Fresh Art International · host Cathy Byrd

Recorded with Puerto Rican artist Papo Colo in SoHo during the final exhibition at Exit Art, this nostalgic episode remembers the legendary contemporary art center. Papo and his partner Jeanette Ingberman (1952-2011) collaborated as artists and activists across decades to make a tremendous impact on New York's art scene. In May 2012, as Exit Art prepares to close, Papo readies himself for a new venture: a finishing school for young creatives in El Yunque, the Puerto Rican rainforest.  Sound Editor: Leo Madriz  Special Audio: with permission of Papo Colo, Clara Luna   Related Episodes: Puerto Rico Rising—Resisting Paradise, Puerto Rico Rising—Radical Leaders, Puerto Rico Rising—Resilient Artists Related Link: Papo Colo
