Lysis by Plato

Plato's Lysis—a Socratic dialogue investigating the nature of friendship, exploring what true friendship entails and examining this timeless human bond. Narrated with full subtitles. 📖 About the Work Lysis is one of Plato's earlier dialogues, presenting a conversation led by Socrates that investigates the concept of friendship (philia). Through characteristic Socratic questioning, the dialogue explores whether friendship is based on similarity or difference, whether friends must be useful to each other, and what the true nature of this fundamental human relationship is. Though the dialogue ends without definitive conclusions (typical of Plato's aporetic dialogues), it raises profound questions about love, attraction, and human connection that remain relevant today. ✍️ About Plato Plato (427–347 BCE) was a classical Greek philosopher and student of Socrates whose dialogues have shaped Western philosophy for over two millennia.
